Album Notes

One of the most impacting experiences of my life came as a young man. My time serving people in the bush of Tanzania, East Africa was a real eye opener. For some reason I always remembered the respectful Swahili term with which young men and women often used when seeing their elders.
“Mzee” – it can mean honored older man, or father figure. How did I ever get to be this age? I seem to have slipped into this stage of life despite my struggle to maintain youth and purpose. Only time will tell whether I will deserve the honor of being recognized as an Mzee.
I am a writer, songwriter, and storyteller of sorts. Mzee music is the site where my songs of observation and social commentary are displayed. They are meant to be fun and hopefully bring a smile to the listeners face while still arousing a response to deeper issues of life. I hope to add other artists songs to this site and link-- that it may become a true gallery.

Salsa Amerikana:
Man- we are getting hammered on so many fronts as a nation. Immigration... Entitlements...Government deceit and mistrust. Not to mention many in the world that simply hate America as well as what we may stand for. Some feel the very fabric of our society is coming undone. "Kiss goodbye to the good old days"?

Wikigreedia © …
I coined new word for an old condition. “Wiki” is a Hawaiian word that generally means quick or fast. Practitioners of this behavior can often be seen ‘climbing and gathering’ with great determination in the machinery of life and often act as if they will ‘leave nothing behind’ when their life is over. They sometimes adopt the ideal of “love things—use people” instead of “using things and loving people.” I have lived a little while and do not think the nature of man has changed dramatically over the centuries. I think there have always been greedy people and opportunists in every generation. And yet, the “wiki-ness” of our times may be unprecedented.
It is not uncommon for us to now have the facts come to light of greed and corruption on many levels of behavior. Dictators may clean out their own countries treasuries of wealth or art as they sense their demise or collapse of power. Corporate CEO’s award themselves ridiculous bonuses even sometimes when their company ‘ship’ is sinking and getting bailouts from taxpayers money! Now in the high speed internet age there are more “wiki” schemes (get rich quick) than ever before. And, if I am totally candid, I am not the only one to fall for a Ponzi scheme.
If you look at your daily scenery objectively you may notice subtle changes that reveal a remarkable mindset. If you know anything about marketing you realize that you put your biggest money makers in places like isle ends or near the main doors of your business. Would you have thought ten or fifteen years ago that in most every grocery store, mini-mart, and gas plaza you would see get rich quick machines in the main traffic areas? I know of people who sacrifice their families grocery money for scratch off or lottery tickets.
All this may be more than coincidence. As people feel more and more powerless over their lives their panic and discontentment becomes more urgent and evident. The Bible tells in 2 Timothy 3 the following: “There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud………without self-control……treacherous, rash, conceited, …… lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God.”
I wrote a song called “Wall St. Waltz”…(aka) “Wikigreedia” as a commentary of these times we live in. Let me know how you like it! I would also like to see a little forum on examples of Wikigreedia you find. Together maybe you and I can help each other avoid the rush to insanity?

Get your reggae groove on:
Three of these songs i had recorded in a fascinating "Banana Republic" studio in one of my many times doing mission work on the island of Jamaica. What a blast to work with people who have so much talent and passion, and can do so much with so little. Nuff Respek mi breddren :)

About the Author (if you like my songs, you may like my book--The Power of I Will) by C W Eddy
In the book I mention that everyone has what is called a worldview, “from a grave digger to a graduate student.” I can honestly say that I have held both of those positions. If we live long enough, and by God’s blessing, we can play many roles. I have enjoyed being a son, husband and father. Other stops on the journey have included; high school teacher and coach… business owner for over two decades… building contractor… ordained minister… faith based counselor…and missionary to several countries.
