Album Notes
The mid-twentieth century was a hot bed of music culture as social, political, and economic tensions churned people into a rage of self-expression. The “Roaring Twenties” kicked us off with Jazz music and before long, big bands were swinging just about every kind of music imaginable, including country. Hillbilly Swing or Western Swing music was a favorite all over America, combining the local country flavor with the current swing sound.

The Keystone Swingbillies are made up by singer Mia Johnson, singer and guitarist Dave Young, bassist Tom McKernan, and drummer Mark Shewchuk.

On a brisk autumn afternoon, these four old friends entered the cozy basement studio at frontman Dave Young's home near Philadelphia, PA to record some of their favorite songs. Their plan was modest, simply to make a demo to get some new gigs. But the result was something all-together different - a collection of recordings electrifying and rich, harkening to a time when all recordings were done live and dancing was always accompanied by live musicians.

Through these 6 fresh recordings, you will be escorted to a dance hall in the 1960's where the sounds of country music from an almost forgotten era are recalled and celebrated with true passion.
