Alan MacLeod

“Americana with a heart and a strong pulse.”

Alan P. MacLeod composes, co-writes and records songs for placement with film projects and performing artists.

In the late 1980’s Alan produced the Halifax (Canada) indie bands Infra Dig and Tetrus. (Tetrus was one of the ground-breaking bands of the East Coast alternative music scene.)

Two of his songs appear on Sean Kirby’s CD Trust, including the title track – “Trust These Words”. Joanna Butler included four songs she co-wrote with Alan on her 2008 CD “Sometimes A Daydream”.

Alan released “Hide The Knives” in 1998; and “Capo” (a series of four EP’s in differing musical styles) between 2005 and 2009. His 2012 CD, “After New York” is available online.

While continuing to hone his song-writing craft through Master Classes via Music Nova Scotia and the East Coast Music Association, Alan composed soundtracks for independent films and consulted on the score for the award winning film “Baba’s House”. The first single from "After New York", "HERE and NOW" was chosen as the end credit song for the feature film "The Disappeared."

Alan, a SOCAN and Songwriters Association of Canada member, was a Co-Coordinator for SAC’s Halifax Regional Writers Group & now lives in Toronto.

In his "Other Life", Alan works in the film and television industry as a Set Decorator, Props Master and Production Designer. He's won three Atlantic Film Festival Craft Awards For Art Direction and has one Gemini Nomination.
