Aled Hughes

Aled enjoys writing songs in Welsh and English, poetry and traditional real ales. In fact he believes the odd real ale helps with the writing!

His subjects vary from love and loss to political injustices and life's trials and tribulations.

Aled's third album 'Earl Lane' with 15 tracks is now available and well worth a listen and is receiving airtime on the radio.

Album review by Welsh Connections
Artist : Aled Hughes
Title : Earl Lane

The title of Aled Hughes' third album is taken from the studio where he recorded it - Earl Lane in Cardiff, Wales, and it features support from Lynise Esprit (Seafall), Jonathan Browning & Lydia Maxwell.
A mammoth 15 tracks, featuring songs in both English & Welsh sung with Aled's trademark passion and hwyl ! You can't help but warm to Aled's infectious upbeat music which is a reflection of the man himself - always optimistic with a broad smile on his face he's a joy to talk with and this comes across in this album.
Sitting somewhere inbetween country and folk 'Earl Lane' is an easy and relaxing listen - standout tracks in the office were 'Cariad' & 'Love You Too'

Here's a review of Aled's second album '67 by Davey Beyns of Welsh

Eighteen tracks (yes, 18 !) and all but one written by Aled and recorded at Cardiff’s Earl Lane Studios by Lynise Esprit (Seafall).
There’s nothing wrong with sitting firmly in the middle lane, making music for people of a certain age when it’s done well – and this is ! It’s a great collection of mid-tempo tunes somewhere between pop and soft rock. The playing is faultless and the album rolls along at a pleasant pace. Check out ‘Sweet Mona Lisa’ or ‘Who Is She ?’.

Aled was part of Mr Spoons, a Cardiff based band and recorded sessions for BBC Radio Cymru's Ram Jam Programme which used to be aired on Saturday mornings. They also produced a pop video of Pink Moustache for the S4C tv channel for a programme called Heno.

He also records voiceovers for various tv and radio adverts. Apart from music he also enjoys riding motorcycles, classic cars and seeing the beautiful Welsh scenery.

Take care and enjoy life!

Mae Aled yn mwynhau ysgrifennu caneuon yn Gymraeg a Saesneg, barddoni a cwrw traddodiadol. I ddweud y gwir mae e'n credu bod ambell i gwrw traddodiadol yn gymorth gyda'r ysgrifennu!

Gwrandewch ar albwm newydd Aled 'Earl Lane' ei drydydd albwm sy gyda 15 trac gan gynnwys 'Gwahoddiad'.

Mae ei bynciau yn cynnwys amrywiaeth o destynnau o gariad, colled, i gamsyniadau gwleidyddol ac hynt a helynt bywyd.

Roedd Aled yn rhan o Mr Spoons, band wedi'i leoli yng Nghaerdydd a recordiodd sesiynau i raglen Ram Jam ar BBC Radio Cymru oedd yn arfer cael ei ddarlledu ar fore Sadwrn. Gwnaethon nhw hefyd gynhyrchu fideo pop o'r gan Pink Moustache ar gyfer y rhaglen Heno ar S4C.

Mae e hefyd yn recordio troslais ar gyfer hysbysiadau radio a teledu. Ar wahan i gerddoriaeth mae e hefyd yn mwynhau gyrru beiciau modur, hen geir a gweld golygfeydd hyfryd Cymru.
