Alvin Jones

Al, formally known as Alvin Jones, Jr. was born on July 14, 1977 to Alvin
Jones, Sr. and Dorrine Jones. Al, who was to be surgically removed as a
tumor, is the answer to a miraculous prayer of his parents that God would
turn a tumor into a baby boy. Not only did Al come out bouncing, he also
came out singing and praising God.

Al sang his first solo in church entitled: "Never Say No to Jesus" at the
tender age of four. Since then, Al has been a member of the Bethel Way of
the Cross Church of Christ in Huntingtown, Maryland. Al has always been
known to sing throughout his community at various events and venues. Some
of the groups he has sung with are: Bethel Youth For Christ Choir (director,
musician, and singer), Redeemed, The Jones Singers, Restoration, and the
Bowie State University Gospel choir. Al has had the awesome opportunity to
share the stage with such artists as: Marvin Sapp, Maurette Brown-Clark,
Bobby Jones, and Jonathan Nelson and Purpose.

Al has not always been on his own, as he has been accompanied by his sisters
LaVonya, Phelicia, Yolanda, and Britney (along with some of his musical friends).
O'Brien Echols,his brother-in-law, has also had a huge influence on Al's musical
development as a writer and musician. One of Al's greatest joys and foundation is being
with his family and spending time with some of his biggest yet smallest fans--his neice
Brieana and nephew Joshua (Josh).

As a youngster, Al's father sat him down and explained the plan of salvation
to he and his sisters. Shortly thereafter, as he was singing around the
house (which he would do often), it was prophesied to him by his Dad that,
though he could sing good now, once he would receive the spirit of God, he
would really be able to sing like, and we use exact words, "a mocking bird."
Shortly thereafter in January 1990, Al received the gift of the Holy
Ghost, speaking with other tounges as the spirit of God gave utterance.
This Wednesday night was a turning point in Al's life and shortly thereafter
he was baptized in water according to Acts 2:38. Once saved, Al's outlook
and perspective on life changed. Singing no longer was enough, but he also
desired to play the piano. Most of all, he desired to flow in God's anointing power.

During one late Sunday evening service, his current Pastor, then Youth Elder
Darnell Easton called anyone who had a desire to play the piano to the front
and anointed Al's hands. From that day forward, Al has been playing the
piano skillfully and under the anointing. God has been developing and shaping Al's
musical and spiritual gifts (along with his integrity) over the years by
speaking to him during devotional time, causing him to write, compose and
direct anointed songs. Along with the gift of music, Al also knows that his
spiritual gift is encouragement. Through music, his goal is to uplift
God, your spirit, and encourage you to get to know God in a very real way.

This is his prayer for all who listen to the songs that come through this
vessel whose ultimate desire is to live for and be used by God. With that
being said, may you be encouraged and uplifted as you listen and experience
the unique ministry of Alvin Jones.
