Amber Darland

Amber Darland is an indie folk-rock singer+songwriter from Bellingham, WA. Audiences from festivals to coffee shops to concert halls have been falling in love with Amber Darland's songs, voice and performance style since 2004. Her voice has been described as "powerful" and "rich" with the ability to turn heads on a busy Saturday at the Farmer's Market or to hush a boisterous crowd at a local bar. Darland's intensely personal music has the passion reminiscent of Patty Griffin, Lucinda Williams and Shawn Colvin and the soulfulness of k.d. lang, the Carpenters and Dar Williams. She is a master at making the simple, evocative. "Each song has heartfelt lyrics and when Amber sings, emotion pours out. The stories in the songs speak to all of us and her performance is so inclusive that the audience can't help but feel important." Her music is compelling because it's both political and deeply personal - and by design, purposeful. In her performances, the listener becomes an integral part of the moment. Darland's delivery of powerful, honest poetry with pure vocals, strong melodies, infectious rhythms and personal stories keep the audience engaged and experiencing a wave of emotions. It is not uncommon for her listeners to move from tears to laughter or from personal reflection to political action in response to her music.

In July 2009, Amber released her third studio recording and debut full length album “Truce” which quickly gained attention from audiences across the nation. In October 2009, she was named the winner of the 2009 North Carolina Songwriter's Coop Song Competition. After touring from coast to coast, Amber joined forces with Lisa Harmon in 2015 to form the indie folk duo, The Sweet Goodbyes ( They released their debut album together in July 2017 and have been charming listeners ever since.

When she is not performing live, Amber Darland is teaching music for all ages and directing the music program at the Center for Spiritual Living in Bellingham, WA. Her most recent project is a solo album featuring "spiritually-infused, heart-full songs for everyone". "There's a Calling" will be released mid-August 2019.
