Angry McFinn & the Old Yank

One day Dean Lewis decided to leave his life of freeways and LA rock clubs behind for a new start in Tokyo after falling in love with the city while on layover to a long forgotten destination.
After playing in the clubs of Sunset for years he had reserved himself to playing solo gigs occasionally around Tokyo and writing songs for his own pleasure.
One night in May 2014 near the famous Nihonbashi Bridge, Dean had a pivotal conversation over beers with a long time colleague. A Finn named Petja Martinnen.
You see, Petja, for years had failed to mention that he was actually a classically trained musician. He had also neglected to speak of his time living in Ireland and playing jigs and reels in local Irish bands. Apparently, being Finnish meant he kept his cards close to his chest and speaking little.
So when Dean pressed Petja as to if he knew anyone who wanted to play traditional Irish and American folk music with an attitude? Petja quietly said, "I know someone."
(Angry McFinn & The Old Yank was born that very night over many pints of Guinness.)

Growing quickly as a band over the next two years the band has solidified with
Dean Lewis on acoustic guitar and lead vocals, Petja Martinnen on mandolin and fiddle, Yosuke Iwanaga on fiddle, Petteri 'P' Pussinen on electric guitar, Nobu Kimura on bass guitar and G-ian Sakimura on percussion.
The band's sound has been described as Irish pub rock with an attitude. At times loud and brash the band's sound can quickly turn quiet and reflective. Songs of war, friendship and broken hearts all seen through the lens of a whiskey bottle make for an emotional ride with audiences cheerfully singing along and relating to the band.
