Hilary Noble and Greg Snedeker, co-leaders of Anishana

Hilary Noble is a woodwind player, Afro-Latin percussionist, composer and music educator living in the Boston area. He has performed all over the U.S, Europe, and in the Caribbean. His music has been played on radio stations internationally and featured prominently on local programs such as WGBH’s “Eric in the Evening”, on which he has performed live with his band Enclave. In 2008 Enclave received a grant from Chamber Music America to compose an Afro-Cuban jazz suite: the resulting work was premiered live on WGBH and at the Jazz Gallery in New York City. Artists Hilary Noble has played and recorded with include Bobby Sanabria’s Ascención, Esperanza Spalding, John Santos, Charles Neville, Bo Diddley, Eric Krasno, Entrain, Max Creek, Bob Moses, Ray Vega, Chris Washburne, Chembo Corniel, Robin Kenyatta, Clifford Thornton, and Alvin Queen.

Greg Snedeker has a diverse background as a performer, composer, audio engineer, and producer. He has recorded as a cellist, jazz pianist, composer, and electronic musician with many artists including the Pioneer Consort, Grammy award winning saxophonist Yusef Lateef, Nashville fiddler Randy Howard, Hilary Noble, Steven Santoro, and Signature Sounds artists. As a composer, his music blends facets of contemporary classical, jazz, funk, and popular styles. His output includes pieces for orchestra, jazz ensemble(s), multi-media productions, interactive electronics, and more. His recordings as an engineer and producer have received favorable reviews from such publications as Fanfare, American Record Guide, Grammaphone, and Strad. With Brad Michel (Harmonia Mundi, U.S.) he co-engineered Derek Bermel’s Voices for BMOP Sound which received a Grammy nomination for best soloist with orchestra in 2010. He holds a B.A.(economics) from Boston University, a M.M. from UMass at Amherst and a D.M.A. from the Hartt School, University of Hartford.
