Answer Hymn

Geoff Hanson, Lisa Chaddock, Annie Jarrett and David Shine offer songs that draw from a variety of influences, from folk to pop to Celtic music. Geoff and David met in high school, and have been close friends ever since. Lisa and Annie met at church choir, and have sung together for many years. When Geoff and Lisa met, they realized that their songwriting together was even stronger than each individually, so they began in 1997 by putting together a tape for church to raise money for choir robes. Lisa made 250 copies, afraid that 200 would be permanent residents of her garage. To Geoff, Annie, David and Lisa's surprise, the tape sold out in 2 weeks! They were asked to write the music for a Christmas musical, and expanded from there. Although Answer Hymn toured the east coast only once, and remain mainly on the west coast, we have enjoyed hearing from people all over the world who have played our songs. "Trinity" won a San Diego Songwriter's Guild Honorable Mention award; "Stable in the Darkness" was commissioned by Trinity Church in New York City after 9-11; "Amber Moon" was featured on a fund raising CD for the Scottish National Trust; "Quiet Times" was commissioned for Camp Stevens upon obtaining 100 acres for wildlife preserve on the camp; "Love is the Call " for the Season of Transformation" helped the Episcopal Diocese of San Diego raise $6mil toward building new churches in the Southern California and Arizona. Answer Hymn continues to create new songs and is dedicated to helping churches support youth in our communities. "Forevermore" was created in 2010, and has been used by churches to raise money for their Youth Programs. In 2012, we are offering "Stay" for your enjoyment and to raise money for Music Programs for churches. By 2015, we had completed "Shelter" in, which is moving us forward in creative changes. "For a Glimpse came out in 2017, with the addition of Sue Caldwell to the group, whose piano talents are amazing. "Known By His Name" is due out in 2019, as we continue to write and record, and will go toward funding gardens at churches that respond to the needs of creation or community by planting native plants for birds and butterflies, or food plants for the needy in your community.
