Baby C

Carl Franklin a.k.a. Baby C was born September 15 1979 in Redmond, Washington. He recalls “I started singing at a very young age around four years old my grandmother started taking me to church. The sermons were cool but what I really loved was the music”. At age fourteen, Baby C began writing his first songs, but it wasn’t until after high school that he began to really think about music as a career. And at a Fourth of July party in the summer of 1997 Baby C’s dreams became a reality when he met producer Lonnie “Mr. MAV” Perrin.

The two would combine to release Baby C’s debut hit single “Mob With Me”, which received heavy rotation on Seattle’s KUBE 93 and other local stations. The song was a top selling single and was nominated for song of the year at the First Annual Northwest Urban Music Awards. To follow up the hit single Baby C released his debut album “Not To Be Funked With” which consisted of sixteen tracks with production from MAV and Steve Sherrad. “I wanted to be known for representing my town and show that in my music. It is good to have people stand up and take notice to the Seattle urban music scene” says Baby C.

The single “Mob With Me” appeared on Billboards New Talent Spotlight CD which at the time showcased promising unsigned acts. He was featured on an X-Games Hip Hop/Snowboard compilation. Baby C also has had the pleasure of performing with artists such as Busta Rhymes, Nelly, RUN DMC, Destinys Child, and even performed a live taping on the once heavily syndicated Jenny Jones show.

Following his debut album Baby C went on to feature on several songs on the 2-0-Sickness Albulation ,which was Stressed Out Entertainments project to showcase artists it was working with. “Not To Be Funked With” featured appearances from SubLymm (AKA) Blymm, KMC, and Metasin (AKA) Manch Melevolent.
