Billie Goats Gruff

Billie Goats Gruff is the musical project of filmmaker Billie Mintz.

Billie began his journey in the film industry at 12 years old on the hit show, “Degrassi Junior High” and continued to be involved in the industry throughout his adolescents. His directorial and professional storytelling career began in 1996 when his play, "Dancing with the Fool" was produced at the Tarragon Theatre in Toronto. His award winning short film, “The Fool”, narrated and executively produced by Hollywood screen legend Danny Aiello, was internationally distributed and is currently being developed into a feature film. Two of Billie’s feature documentary films have also been distributed internationally. His short animated film, “The Long Journey Home” was officially accepted into over 30 international film festivals and has won five awards in the best film category. His latest film, “The Ponzi Scheme”, premiered on the Sundance Channel and was theatrically distributed and sold to territories all over the world. Billie’s films have been recipients of prestigious awards from the Canada Council Grant, the Canadian Independent Film and Video Fund, Ontario and Toronto Arts Council, as well as licensed by the Bravo Channel (BravoFACT) and the Canadian Broadcasting Company. His films have been official selections for over 50 international film festivals including the Vancouver International Film Festival, Annecy, and Canadian Short Film Festival. Billie is a member of the Canadian Actor's Union (ACTRA), the Directors Guild of Canada (DGC), and the Canadian Film and Television Producers Association (CFTPA). Billie is also responsible for the implementation of 12 overseas animation studios in India, which service North American animation corporations, including Disney and Nelvana.

Billie is the president of Artists Raising Consciousness Inc. (ARC), a social media advocacy agency formed in 1999 with a mission of identifying issues not addressed in public forums to advance the awareness of these important social issues. He also runs a boutique-advertising agency, Imagin8r, which has helped in the branding of such clients as Contac Cold and Flu, Molson/Coors, the city of Toronto and the Canadian government. Together Imagin8r and ARC have successfully produced high quality films and campaigns tailored to a specific cause, product and audience that have created new outlets for progress by using storytelling to advocate, engage and connect stakeholders. ARC has succeeded in creating new avenues for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) by enrolling both online and offline participants as active philanthropists. As a speaker for the National Speakers Bureau, Billie has been invited by the Canadian Tourism Commission to host a seminar geared towards educating and motivating Canadian Ambassadors in their promotion of Canadian tourism. He was also invited by the Canadian Embassy to generate meaningful conversation and improve relations between the Canadian Government and the Canadian mining companies operating in Argentina. Billie now lives in Los Angeles where he directs commercials and writes screenplays. Billie is currently in pre-production for his latest film “Outcalls”, which is based on his experience going undercover as a driver in the escort industry.
