Bob was born in International Falls Minnesota. His family moved to Oregon in 1966 and all have resided there since that time. He is the youngest of seven children.

Bob began composing on the piano as a child. Self taught, his style is truly emotion in motion. Bob does not read music, he learns by ear and memorizes the music. His original compositions are unique, as are his arrangements of familiar pieces.

Bob was featured on a Tualatin Valley Cable access special, which aired in the Portland metro area in 2002. A youtube of this performance can be viewed at Bob's youtube site www.youtube.com/bobdahlmusic He was also on KOIN local news in 1997, as part of a news segment covering a homecoming celebration for Michelle Taggart, Olympic snowboard athelete. He provided background piano music at this event held at the Morrow Mansion in Salem.

He has also done benefit performances for the Union Gospel Mission, The Salvation Army, and the Humane Society (Salem and Portland). Bob recalls the Humane Society performance as the most hilarious. He provided soft music in the main lobby, meanwhile dogs were yelping like crazy in the background. (Ok, so this wasn't such a hot idea.)

One of Bob's most memorable experience was receiving a handwritten letter from famous fiction auther, Dean Koontz. Dean wrote: "Bob, your lovely music gave my office ambience a definite uplift."

Some of Bob's favorite pianists are: Michael Jones, David Lanz, George Winston, Liz Story, John Nilsen, Mark J, David Nevue, and the late Dax Johnson.

Bob recorded his first CD "The Color of Dreams" in 1995. He recorded "Perception" in 2000 and had standing room only at his CD release performance held at Salem Borders Books & Music. He also released "Star of Night", his Christmas album, in 2000. His version of "What Child is This?" was featured on KKJZ FM 106.7 in Portland. He was also a featured artist on KINK FM 102 and has been one of the top 40 artists on solopianoradio.com. He released "Azure Skies" in 2005 and CD sales from the release concert exceed the "Perception" show.
