Cameron Tummel

Cameron Tummel

Cameron Tummel is acclaimed as one of the world's most charismatic facilitators of rhythm. He has hosted interactive rhythm events for more than a quarter million earthlings in 14 countries and 38 of the United States. For booking information please visit:

Tummel's facilitation training included a thirteen year apprenticeship with Arthur Hull, and a decade of employment by Arthur's company, Village Music Circles. He is featured in VMC's video, "Drum Circle Facilitation," and wrote several of the articles in the accompanying book. Cameron has facilitated teambuilding events for Google, Toyota, and the Young President's Organization; leadership keynote events for the National Collegiate Athletics Association; community building events for universities such as UC Berkeley, UC Santa Barbara, and Johnson & Wales; and has hosted musical drum circles for youth at dozens of schools throughout his home state of California.

Tummel attributes his djembe skills to his nine year apprenticeship with master djembe player Abdoulaye Diakite, which included three drum sabbaticals to Senegal, West Africa, to study the rhythms and culture of the Bamana people.

In 2007 he produced the Play-Along Instructional CD "Fundamental Djembe."
May 2009 he released his first all-original instrumental world percussion album, "Waterfire."

Cameron has recorded with Arthur Hull, Margie Heart, Noah Churchill, Toby Salciccia, and Quarkspace, and performed with Babatunde Olatunji, Abdoulaye Diakite, Jason Campbell, Beyond the Beat, and Small Village. He performs annually as a clinician and teacher at the Seattle World Rhythm Festival, hosts drum circles throughout America and Europe, and tries to find enough time to hike, write, compose, read and surf whenever possible.
