Carl Sims

CARL SIMS was born in Holly Springs, MS and his family moved to Memphis, TN when he was still a baby. Carl grew up in those days in Memphis around the time when Memphis blues and soul music was everywhere especially in historic Beale Street downtown district. He was a true entertainer singing and dancing in talent shows and contest so much that one Memphis news paper gave him the name "SOUL POWER".

He began his career when he was 16 years old as lead singer for the Original Bar-Kays back in the mid 60's. The Bar-Kays took Arthur Conley's place as opening act for the OTIS REDDING REVUE. A plane crash in Milwaukee, WI in 1967 killed OTIS and all the Bar-Kays on the plane except Ben Cauley who survived the crash. The other two (2) original Bar-Kays CARL SIMS and James Alexander flew on the commercial flight because there was no room for them on OTIS"s private plane. After returning home to Memphis the three (3) surviving Original Bar-Kays (CAULEY, SIMS, and ALEXANDER) went their seperate ways.

CARL SIMS has had much success in his career with hits beginning with "TRAPPED", SEVENTEEN DAYS OF LOVING" on his HOUSE OF LOVE CD and several others through the years. "LIVING IN A ROOMING HOUSE" is destined for greatness. It is a song of love and longing to rekindle that lost love. It will touch you or someone you know! No one does it quite like the charismatic CARL SIMS, who has just been selected by the Jus' Blues Foundation Selection Committee to be the honoree of the prestigious 2017 JUS' BLUES LIFETIME BOBBY BLUE BLAND ARTIST AWARD. His authentic style and old school soulful flavor is truely all CARL SIMS.
