Cat Jahnke

For over a decade, singer-songwriter Cat Jahnke has built a loyal fan base across Canada, touring regularly and releasing five full-length albums and several EPs. Her hard work has been noticed, garnering her a nomination for "Contemporary Vocalist of the Year" at the Canadian Folk Music Awards, second place in the International Songwriting Competition, and funding from arts associations like FACTOR and Manitoba Film and Sound.

Cat has proven her flexibility, and the strength of her musical chops, by contributing work to a diverse range of projects including a web series (NBC's "Ctrl"), indie documentaries (Men with Beards, Letters to our Children), and video games (iDance, Daymare Cat). Her songs have been part of such high-profile TV shows such as Dance Moms, Degrassi: The New Generation, and MTV Live.

A musical chameleon, Cat is constantly reinventing herself: as a folk musician, a film composer, a video game character (in Daymare Cat, an online game played over a million times), and even as a reality show contestant (CBC Television's Canada's Smartest Person). With a powerful stage presence honed over years of performing and her angelic voice, Cat proves time and again that she is capable of upending expectations and delighting fans, both old and new, with her music.

In her songwriter role, there is a depth to her artistry, and an honesty that resonates. On her newest album, "The Boy, The Girl, The Wolf," set to be released in Fall 2019, Cat courageously examines her own struggles with depression and mental health, bringing into focus an issue that affects so many. Through these songs, Cat shows the strength and community that can come from sharing our most painful stories, and that sometimes a glimmer in the gloom can be the brightest beacon.

"The songs are well-crafted and sincere, and the subtle harmony vocals ice the cake, but that voice... oh that pretty it's heartbreaking."
