Cesar Orozco

CESAR OROZCO – Cuba/Venezuela.
(Pianist, Composer, Arranger)

Cesar Orozco holds a degree from the National School of Arts in Havana, from which he graduated in 1998, with majors in violin performance and ensemble conducting. After graduation from NSA, Mr. Orozco traveled to Venezuela, where he spent fourteen years developing a prolific career as a pianist, composer, and arranger. During this time, he worked or recorded with such Venezuelan and international artists as Biella Da Costa, Guaco, Pablo Gil, Andres Briceño, Alfredo Naranjo, Aquiles Báez, Ilan Chester, Orlando Poleo, Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Simón Díaz and the Grammy nominated flautist Huáscar Barradas, among others. In 2010, he received the honor to be an exclusive Yamaha Artists in Venezuela. Cesar has been part of more than 40 recordings as a sideman and three solo productions with his own project César Orozco & Kamarata Jazz. His album Orozcojam received four nominations and was awarded as the Best Vocal-Instrumental album in the 2012 edition of Cubadisco, the most important musical event of the Cuban recording industry.

Mr. Orozco was musical director, composer, arranger and pianist for more than eight years of the most important Venezuelan musical shows: Venezuela Viva and Orinoco. He has toured internationally through the United Stated, United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Netherlands, Colombia, Argentina, and Mexico. In 2012, he was invited to teach a workshop about his work of fusion between Venezuelan and Cuban music with jazz at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. He has performed in such venues as the Kennedy Center, Twins Jazz Club in Washington DC, Bolivar Hall in London, and Bimhuis in Amsterdam. Mr. Orozco recently moved to the United States to study a Graduate Performance Degree at the prestigious Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.
