Clef Majorz
Walter "CLEF MAJORZ" Pitchford was born July 27,1989 to Walter Gibson and Carloyn Pitchford in Richmond Va. He is the middle child of three children. His father was a aspiring musician while his mother worked to help provide for their family. Clef Majorz grew up in the east end of Richmond where he developed his ear for music. When he was was 4 years old his father was murdered and at that young age he knew he would do music for the rest of his life.
In fifth grade he then moved from the east end to north side Richmond Va where he attended Ginter Park Elementary. He enrolled in his first music class where he began playing clarinet. One year later he moved back to the east end and attended Fairfield Middle School where he transitioned from clarinet to trumpet and never looked back. When Majorz started eighth grade he began marching for Highland Springs High School where his loved for music evolved to a passion and he knew this was for him. Around 2005 he began recording in small home studios and got together with his friend ,Michael Fields, and began making music. 2006 he met a close friend Michael Tatem and James Woolfolk , a local bail bonds men, who also was starting his studio and the three became good friends.
After five years of marching for HSHS he graduated and before went continued his studies in music at Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte NC his best friend Michael Tatem was murdered which made Majorz take his craft a little more seriously.Shortly after that James Woolfolk was murdered while on the job and things changed tremendously. At the age of 19 he gave birth to his first born child, Cadence Harmoni Marriott, by his girlfriend at the time Dannielle Marriott. With the pressures of fatherhood on his back he dropped out of school and came back home to Richmond and worked for Fed Ex Ground.
Knowing this wasn't the life he visioned he created his own label know as EMG (EpickMusickGroup) the summer of 2010 and started recording and taking his craft seriously. He also begn working along side his child hood friend Bryan Ford and his promotion group, TruSwagga Ent, throwing parties at different establishments around the city or Richmond. By 2012 he made a small name for himself by booking small events to perform at and booking studio sessions but that still wasn't enough so he pushed harder.
As the months passed he realized EMG is for the people and he began giving back to the public throwing showcases and producing plenty project for indie artist from Va to Florida. Clef Majorz is always striving for excellence and giving up is not an option because he know if everyone inside the label plays their role "team work will make the dream work"
