Dancetime With Linda & Roland

2012 Update
All is well with Music by Linda Herman, alias Dancetime With Linda & Roland. Playing many jobs in the Los Angeles area. Connecting with customers thru Gig Salad which is an interesting booking site. However most of my jobs I get by word of mouth. Having fun and enjoying life more. Hey, I'm not getting any younger. My bridge in Iowa, the Sutliff Bridge is to be completed in September 2012. I'm visiting in November and my journey will be complete. It has been quite a project since 2008. A worth while project I should add. I learned a lot about myself. I created more of my own music because of my journey. So hope you listen to my songs and enjoy the music. Remember life is short so live it now.

My name is Linda Herman & you have reached Dancetime With Linda & Roland. First I have to tell you that my friend and love, Roland, passed away October 2007. He is responsible for my cd's on cdbaby. The music continues as Dancetime With Linda.

I live in the Los Angeles area and play music for ballroom dancing. My clientele is mostly "older" but dancing keeps them "young". All my cd's are designed for dancing. There is a variety of music on each cd. You will find foxtrot, waltz, swing, country, cha cha, rhumba, samba, mambo, tango, well you get the picture. Recently I have been writing some of my own material. Not sure where that is coming from but I like it as they say.

I play a Roland FR7 V Accordion and now have the FR7X Accordion midi to a Ketron SD3 sound module, now I have the Roland BK7M sound module. Yes I said ACCORDION. Hey, listen to the music, you might change your mind about the accordion. Roland Corp. has definitely brought the accordion into today's world. It is a wonderful instrument with endless possibilities. In case you are not familiar with the Roland accordion I will enlighten you. It is completely electronic. No reeds. It is capable of producing 30 some types of accordion, German, Italian, musette, etc. All can be modified to suit your taste and imagination. It also has orchestral sounds including piano, guitar, sax, flute, etc and my favorite trumpet. Had to learn to actually play that. The left hand is absolutely fantastic with orchestral sounds also. Combine the accordion with midi and you have something else!!!

I am originally from Iowa. One of my "causes" is a bridge to nowhere in the small settlement of Sutliff, near Iowa City. The Bridge as I call it is named the Sutliff Bridge. One span of the three span bridge collapsed due to flood waters in June 2008. Yes, I wrote a song for the Bridge. It is just a special place.

In 2010 I will have been playing accordion for 50 years!!!!! Wow that is grounds for a celebration. I moved to the Los Angeles area in 1984 with Glen Kelley, a fantastic drummer that passed away in 1999. His death changed my life and it actually took 10 years to get back on track. Roland was a part of that also. I have managed to actually make a living playing an ACCORDION. It has been a great life. My "dancer family" has been extremely important to me. I have met so many interesting people. A lot of them have become like family to me.

So if you like music with a beat and with melody and enjoy dancing, well, you might enjoy my music. Thank-you for visiting me at cdbaby. CDBABY rocks.
