Darren Garvey

Darren Garvey's long-anticipated sophomore record Heart Attack Sleeves (2018) was recorded in a turn-of-the-century victorian mansion in Neenah during the cold Wisconsin winter. Accomplishing a more raw and real sound than on past solo recordings, Garvey chose from minimal studio takes and avoided leaning on editing.

Garvey's debut Under A Common Ceiling (2010) followed years of touring with various bands as a drummer since the mid-90s. On his debut solo record he plays a long list of instruments ranging from piano to pump organ to micro korg, accordion, mbira, banjo, guitars, bass, and an array of percussion instruments.

The eclectic variety of material on both albums is born from Darren's diverse multi-faceted performance career and his work as a producer and composer of music for film and television. Common Ceiling focuses on melody and lyrics that offer advice for the struggle with technology and loneliness.

Darren is a current member of Elephant Revival and an alumnus of Cameron McGill & What Army, Daniel and the Lion, and Andreas Kapsalis Trio. He has also recorded and performed with a wide variety of artists including Chicago Farmer, Miles Nielsen & The Rusted Hearts, Cory Chisel, and Sandra Bernhard.
