Deane Nesbitt Jr.

Deane Nesbitt Jr. is a Canadian musician, composer and recording artist. His music has been aired on more than 300 radio stations across America. His latest CD, Music in Search of a Movie, was cited as one of the top 100 music CDs of 2015 by an American reviewer and awarded Best Dramatic Music of the year. The album ranked on five CMJ charts for New World Music, reaching the top three positions on each.

In 2016, Deane composed the soundtrack for the inspirational children’s film, Change for Chimps, featuring Dr. Jane Goodall. The film toured film festivals across North America and won an award for Most Uplifting Film at the 2018 Imagination Lunchbox International Children's Film Festival. In 2017, Deane composed the score for the documentary film, Legacy of War, honoring WWII veterans and those who continue to fight for our freedom today.

Deane plays the piano and other keyboards entirely by ear. In his twenties, he regularly entertained people with visual impairments. Using the raised keys as a type of Braille, he found he could teach piano to people who could not see. His first album, On the Black Keys and by Ear, was produced to raise money for the blind. After its release, Deane entertained in Europe, where he met and played for Hollywood legend, Greta Garbo.

Deane’s songs have been performed in Toronto at Massey Hall, Nathan Phillip Square, and the Canadian National Exhibition by the Canada Pops Orchestra, as well as at St. James Cathedral by The Royal Regiment of Canada. He is currently working on a new album, Soundtracks in the Sand, to be released in the fall of 2018.
