Didi Stewart

My first original band was Didi Stewart and the Amplifiers, signed to Kirshner Records in the eighties (I vaguely remember Don Kirshner saying I was his "new Carole King" before vanishing into the ether with his guitar-shaped swimming pool.) Next up was the fabulous seven-woman rock band Girls' Night Out, a tongue-in-cheek tribute to 60s girl groups complete with Salvation Army minidresses, white lipstick, plastic go-go boots, and lime green fishnet stockings. A solo career followed, along with a professorial gig at Boston's Berklee College of Music.

Two-time winner of the Boston Music Award for Best Female Vocalist

Musician Magazine: Best Unsigned Band (with Girls' Night Out)

Boston Magazine: Best Club Performance (An Evening of Burt Bacharach and Hal David)

Film and TV song credits: Melrose Place, Touched By an Angel, Desert Hearts, Malibu Shores, the Beast, One Life to Live, Days of Our Lives, Sled Dogs, and the camp classic Reform School Girls

The Boston Globe: "When Didi Stewart aims for a chorus, she shoots for the stars."

I write my songs on exotic tropical beaches, armed with a Spiral notebook and a Pentel Rolling Writer. And coffee. Lots of coffee.
