Dimitris Zikos

He was born in Thessaloniki in 1974. He grew up in Athens, where he studied marketing and business administration. At the same time he was also studying classical piano, harmony, counterpoint, fugue and composition. He has participated actively in the greek rock, jazz and blues music scene for more than fifteen years. In 2006 he forms his own rock-blues band named "Black Ticket" performing live until today. Currently he works as a teacher in the secondary education and in several conservatories. He has also been involved in composing music for films and theatrical plays, orchestration, as well as construction of traditional musical instruments.
His first release ''Spring Equinox'' which was released in 2012 is based on the piano with classic music from all periods like baroque, romantic, modern and atonal and are the main focus of the album with combinations of other mentalities like jazz, blues, ethnic and other elements.
In his next album ''Music Dialogues'' which was released in 2013, the main focus is orchestral pieces and less of pianistic ones. They are variations of themes composed by Dimitris Zikos and Marietta Pepelasi similar to themes found in ''Spring Equinox'' .
His next album ''Penelope'' which was released in 2015 is based on rock. The themes composed by Dimitris Zikos, five of which are instrumental, are special not only in the way the sound of the keys are guitaristic but also in that both the organ and acoustic piano can be heard through the soft rock tracks.
Characteristic of all the albums is the atmospheric mood which is conveyed and leaves you with sense of feeling heard in soundtracks.
