Dúo Ditirambo

Duo Ditirambo was founded in 2008 while violist Noelia Gomez and guitarist Alfonso Aguirre were finishing their graduated studies at Yale University School of Music. Ever since, the duo has been hailed by both general and specialized audiences. Their performances include numerous recitals and concerts as solo duo with orchestra in music festivals, concert series and TV broadcasts in Europe, Mexico and the United States.

Since the beginning the duo maintains a special interest in collaborating with the expansion of the repertoire for viola and guitar. Their projects include numerous transcriptions, as well as original compositions and arrangements comissioned to composers such as Fernando Buide Real, Armando Luna, Flores Chaviano and Claudia Herrerías Guerra.



NOELIA GOMEZ GONZALEZ, viola and violin
Native to Segovia, Spain, violist Noelia Gómez has performed widely as a recitalist and chamber musician in Mexico, Spain, Germany, Puerto Rico and the United States. She was awarded the Georgina Lucy Grosvenor Memorial Prize 2008, “to the violist in the graduating class whose performances while at Yale University have exhibited the highest potential for success as a soloist or chamber musician in the field”. She has also been the winner of the First Prize at the 2004 ‘Mirabent i Magrans’ International Chamber Music Competition in Barcelona as a member of the Matiz String Quartet. Noelia was granted both the Fulbright and Alexander von Humboldt scholarships. She earned a Bachelor of Music degree from the Real Conservatorio Superior de Música de Madrid, as well as a Master of Music degree and an Artist Diploma from Yale University School of Music. She also completed a year of graduate studies at the Hochschule für Musik Köln in Cologne, Germany.

Noelia joined the faculty of the School of Music of the Universidad de Ciencias y Artes de Chiapas in 2009. She is also the artistic director of the PaaxFest Chiapas international music festival.


ALFONSO AGUIRRE DERGAL, guitar

Originally from Guadalajara, Mexico, Alfonso Aguirre has established himself as one of the most outstanding Mexican guitarists of his generation. He is regularly invited to perform in prestigious international music festivals and has been soloist with orchestras in Mexico, Spain and the United States. Alfonso has been a prizewinner in numerous guitar competitions including the First Prize in the Appalachian GuitarFest and International Competition and First Prize in the Paracho Guitar Competition. He has recorded a CD as a soloist of the American Wind Symphony Orchestra and a more recent album, Perpetuum Mobile, with Duo Ditirambo. He holds a Bachelor of Music Degree and a Performer’s Certificate form the Eastman School of Music and a Master of Music degree from Yale University.

He is currently a full-time professor of the Universidad de Ciencias y Artes de Chiapas in the School of Music, where he is also chair of the guitar department.
Alfonso plays a ”Grand Concerto” guitar by Gabriel Hernández.

Original ensamble de trayectoria internacional, Dúo Ditirambo goza desde sus inicios de un gran éxito entre el público y los círculos musicales. Fundado en el 2008 mientras ambos musicos realizaban estudios de posgrado en Yale University, sus actuaciones incluyen recitales y conciertos como dúo solista con orquesta en países de Europa y América, así como transmisiones en vivo a través de varios canales españoles de televisión.

Dúo Ditirambo contribuye a la expansión del repertorio para viola y guitarra, para lo cual ha realizado numerosas transcripciones y encomendado obras originales y arreglos a compositores como Fernando Buide del Real, Flores Chaviano, Armando Luna y Claudia Herrerías. Recientemente realizó la grabación de su primer álbum, Perpertuum Mobile.



NOELIA GÓMEZ GONZÁLEZ, viola y violín
Natural de Segovia, España, Noelia Gómez es una violista que se presenta en recitales y como solista con orquesta en salas de concierto y festivales internacionales de México, Estados Unidos, Puerto Rico, Alemania y España. Ha recibido varios premios entre los que destacan el Georgina Lucy Grosvenor Memorial Prize, otorgado anualmente “al violista que durante su estancia en Yale haya mostrado el mayor potencial de éxito como solista y músico de cámara” y el Primer Premio en el Concurso Internacional de Música de Cámara “Mirabent i Magrans 2004” en Sitges, Barcelona, con el Cuarteto Matiz. Ha sido beneficiada con las becas Fulbright y Alexander von Humboldt. Realizó sus estudios de música en Yale University (EEUU), Köln Hochschule für Musik (Colonia, Alemania) y en el Real Conservatorio Superior de Música de Madrid, obteniendo los títulos de licenciatura, Artist Diploma y Master of Music.

Actualmente es Profesora de Tiempo Completo, Coordinadora de la Academia de Cuerdas de la Escuela de Música de la Universidad de Ciencias y Artes de Chiapas y Directora Artística del Festival Internacional de Música PaaxFest Chiapas.


ALFONSO AGUIRRE DERGAL, guitarra

Originario de Guadalajara, Jalisco, Alfonso Aguirre es uno de los guitarristas mexicanos más destacados de su generación. Es regularmente invitado a tocar en prestigiosos festivales de música en México y el extranjero, y ha sido solista de diversas orquestas en México, Estados Unidos y España. Ha sido galardonado en numerosos concursos de guitarra, incluyendo el primer premio en el concurso internacional Appalachian GuitarFest and Competition y el primer premio en el Concurso Nacional de Guitarra de Paracho. Ha realizado una grabación en CD como solista de la American Wind Symphony Orchestra (EEUU) y otra más recientemente con el Dúo Ditirambo que conforma con su esposa, la violista Noelia Gómez. Estudió en Eastman School of Music de Rochester, Nueva York y en Yale University, obteniendo los títulos de licenciatura (BM), Performer’s Certificate y Maestría en Interpretación Musical (MM).

Actualmente es Profesor de Tiempo Completo y Coordinador de la Academia de Guitarra de la Escuela de Música de la Universidad de Ciencias y Artes de Chiapas.
