Freaky Rap

Freaky Rap is a Filipino Hip Hop recording artist originally from Pangasinan, Philippines. He met Jason Haft through word-of-mouth and the two collaborated to create 'Maasin' (english translation: Salty); The first Hip Hop / Rap anthem that started the Pangasinan Hip Hop Movement.

Filipino Hip Hop is mostly known for lyrics in the Tagalog / Pilipino dialect. However, Freaky Rap and Jason Haft decided to create a song using their province's native language of Pangasinan. (slang: Pangalatok) 'Maasin' has been regarded as the first Hip Hop / Rap song to clearly demonstrate the skill of rhyming using the Pangasinan dialect as its base for lyrical content. The song does contain English lyrics due to the fact that Jason Haft is of Filipino-American heritage born in California, USA. Jason Haft created lyrics for 'Maasin' by blending Pangasinan with English in rhyme form.

'Maasin' is the first true Pangasinan, Philippines Hip Hop song released by the Haftway House recording company. It was produced and recorded by Jason Haft at The Sweat Lodge studio in Lingayen, Pangasinan Philippines.

Now known as 'Gimik-Hop', Freaky Rap's party anthem rap style has spread outside of Pangasinan and is now known all over the Philippines. #Lasing (english translation: Drunk) has become a frequently requested song on the radio as well as in super clubs and local bars.

Freaky Rap continues to perform live throughout Luzon (Northern Philippines) and #Lasing has proven to be his catchiest hit so far. A music video for #Lasing was filmed in Metro Manila, Philippines and was directed by Pikaso of Turf Entertainment. Jason Haft of Haftway House produced and provided a verse for #Lasing as well. It was recorded at The Sweat Lodge studio in Lingayen, Pangasinan Philippines.
