Grant Bentley

The son of an architect and a country girl from the oil fields around Bakersfield, California, Grant first picked up the guitar as an 11-year old boy while looking through the artifacts left when his grandfather, Bill Grant, passed away suddenly at the age of 63. Grant is a three-time winner of the “best song” award given by the Northern California Songwriter’s Association (NCSA) and, since 1997, has released three independently produced CDs of his original songs.

Discography:
Father Times Two (1997) - songs about Grant's relationship with his father, who had two sons, Grant and his long-time producer and collaborator, Bill Bentley. Also, songs like "Weekend Daddy" and "Little Things", explores Grant's relationship with his two sons.

Where I Was (2001) - the first GPS-enabled musical CD that uses a detailed longitude and latitude to locate where the inspiration to write each song on the album occurred. "Grandpa Fly" was written as a tribute to Grant's grandfather, Bill Grant, and the song "A Life Unplugged" is his reaction to the tragic life of Kurt Cobain.

Livin' on Dry Land (2010) - songs written during the seven years Grant lived in the high desert town of Bishop, CA.

Departures and Arrivals (2015) - songs of loss and understanding include tributes to recently lost friends and family and some decidedly off-beat tunes as well.
