Hannah Hesse

Hannah Hesse is a singer and a songwriter from France who got into the spotlight while working with the underground french band Stupeflip.

Growing up in suburban Paris where all the kids were in rock bands, she started her own riot girls bands when she was thirteen. Since then, she never stopped singing and writing music. She explored many genres, studying classical singing at the Conservatoire and often performing with klezmer bands.

With Stupeflip, she wrote and interpreted three tracks of the album Stup Religion (Sony/BMG) and participated to a memorable concert at La Cigale, Paris, singing the « hilarious and desperate » (as described by the Inrockuptibles magazine) love song Le cartable.

Today, Hannah Hesse is dedicated to built a solo career. Her approach to songwriting produces rich and mournful songs dripping with her influences in modern americana, kletzmer and melancholic indie. Her songs evoke comparisons to PJ Harvey, Nick Cave and Agnes Obel.

Hannah Hesse writes widescreen, sensitive pop songs full of the deep emotions of everyday life.

With her new record she crafted cinematic pop songs capable of raising the hairs on the back of your neck. They are dramatic and dynamic, talking about universal feelings and problems of modern life.

The music is addictive and impressionistic, a mix between traditional instruments and cutting edge innovations. Her voice is beautiful and honest conveying all the angst of her song's heart-wrenching messages.
