Human Metronome

Human Metronome

Although Eelke van Hoof (Apollonius f.k.a. Human Metronome) has been making music for almost his entire life, it wasn't until 2005 that he started out making electronic music. He formed a close musical bond with his good friend and soulmate Wasili Papadopoulos (33 Tetragammon).
Music soon became much more than just melody and composition to him; the nature and impact of sound itself became paramount. In 2006 he switched to a purely software based set up and had his first gig with 33 Tetragammon in his hometown Eindhoven, The Netherlands.
In april 2009 they performed on the E-Day festival in Oirschot (organized by Groove), the Netherlands, which was also the c.d. presentation of their debut album 'Resonating Earth'. In july 2010 the cd 'The Child Set Free' was released which has been his most organic sounding album to date. In february 2010 two songs from their debut album were aired on the Hearts of Space radio program called 'Sacred Singing Metals' (PGM 902) and in october 2010 their follow-up 'Spectral Solitude' was broadcast on 'Apparitions' (PGM928) followed by an excerpt of 'Transformation of separate self' on 'Sounding the Deep' (PGM973). His music has been aired on various other radio shows (e.g. Star's End, Ultima Thule, Galactic Travels, Ambient Aether Space Continuum). After having released eight albums since 2009, 2012 saw the release of his second solo effort 'Birth of the Real Self' (under the name Apollonius).

Instruments and sound sources used: bamboo flutes, vocals, field recordings, tabla percussion, singing bowls. His music has a strong reference to the organic world and the mysteries of ancient cultures. If one is open to it, it has the ability impact one's consciousness quite profoundly.
