In Sterio

Genre-shattering, pop-fusion flute duo, In Sterio, re-imagines, re-invents and re-defines the flute's place in popular instrumental music. Shivhan and Erica, Miyazawa Artists, are fearless musicians, always pushing the limits in innovation. Classically trained, yet stylistically unique, their performances fuse virtuosic flute playing with original and eclectic cross-cultural music for an electrifying and powerful presentation of sound. Their vision challenges convention as they draw inspiration from rock, jazz, classical, latin, funk, folk, world and electro styles with a sound that has been described as “two flutes - one brain”. Performances have been praised as “spell binding” and “awe inspiring”. This high octane, “outside the box” duo brings audiences to their feet.

Individually, the girls have performed with artists such as Diana Krall, Al Jarreau, Harry Connick Jr., Jeff Goldblum, Olivia Newton John, Chris Botti, Burt Bacharach, Martin Sexton, Jake Shimabukuro, Elvis Costello and Diane Reeves. In Sterio continues to make their mark as one of the "leading and most intriguing chamber ensembles" in the country. They have been invited to perform and clinic across the country, holding residencies at Universities such as James Madison University, Texas Tech University, University of Tennessee –Knoxville, University of South Florida and the University of Wisconsin-Madison to name a few. In Sterio was invited to perform at the National Flute Association conventions from 2008-2011 and has been invited back for the 2013 convention in New Orleans. They were honored to be Guest Artists for the 2011 Florida Music Educators Association Conference in Tampa and made such a dramatic impression they were invited back as the Featured Artists for the 2012 Convention.

In Sterio released their debut album “Frequency” in 2010, and continue to tour, being invited to perform at schools, music and art festivals, conventions and private venues. Their sophomore album, "Awake", being released in mid-August, is a CD/DVD combo that unifies music and art in an original project inspired solely by the works of abstract artist, Jerry Peel. It is truly a feast for the ears and eyes.

In Sterio continues to grow in popularity developing a fan base both within and outside of the flute community. Their diversity contributes to their popularity among classical and mainstream musicians alike, allowing them to feel equally at home in any venue.
