Of all the things I've written - novels, short stories, television, film, poetry - music and songwriting are the closest to my heart. I've been able to reveal my deepest self through this process, and touch others most deeply as well. There's something about the combination of words and music that cuts right to the soul for me, and recording these CDs has been one of the most rewarding creative experiences of my life.

The Meaning of Life - the latest release - is primarily a meditation on the passing of years, where we've been, where we're going. I still don't know what the meaning of life's mystery is, but I hope it has something to do with the subject of the last song on the CD, Santa Barbara Rising, about pulling together and helping each other.

All my music is Americana - blues, folk, country - but each CD has a different slant.

Waterline is mostly heartfelt folksongs.

Man Walks Into a Bar is a concept album. Each track is a story about one of the people in that bar on that night, and the whole CD tells a metastory about how their narratives mingle.

The 12th Elf is kids' songs that adults can actually enjoy playing over and over.

Instrumental Scenery is just that - No vocals, just easy listening Americana.
