Javier Molina

Javier Molina, also known as Mr. Cowboy Cumbia, is a native of Laredo, Texas and still lives way down on the border in his hometown. He grew up listening to a mix of traditional and regional mexican music, lots of classic country & western music, plus rock and roll and 40 music; giving him a wide array of musical influences too long to list here.

Inspired by Merle Haggard's "Okie From Muskogee", Javier wrote the words and music to his blockbuster hit "Cowboy Cumbia" a Tejano~Country tune sung in English and Spanish. His country cumbia rhythm and beats are spiced with a little honky tonk twang. His music has garnered him three Tejano Music Awards for Best Tejano Country Artist, Best Tejano Crossover Artist and Best Tejano Bilingual Song.

Javier's unique accordion-driven musical style is truly original and bilingual with a genuine Texas-Mexico borderland flavor. Though his musical style may sometimes defy description, He describes his sound as "country music with a tinge of latin rhythm and a touch of rock n roll". In 2019, Javier's music is still attracting whole new generations of accordion music lovers all over the globe with millions of followers worldwide. In his new 2019 CD album "Country Musica" (to be released April 11, 2019) Javier will feature a good dose of picking & twanging on Fender Telecaster electric guitar.

From The Johnny Canales Show to Despierta America, from Al Fin De Semana to Furia Musical, from Festival Acapulco to the Tejano Music Convention, he has appeared on most of the Spanish-language television broadcast, cable and satellite networks across the USA, Mexico and Latin America, and also worldwide thru YouTube and dozens of internet digital music platforms.

In September of 2002, Javier was healed of an incurable illness through prayer and faith and decided to record and perform Christian music to give God the glory for his miraculous healing. His Christian music style retains the same unique borderland rhythms and beats with the added element of Christ-centered lyrics of praise and worship. His CD album "Exitos Cristianos" is a collection of 18 Christian Music Hits in Spanish. -
