Jeremiah Oliver

Jeremiah Oliver ( is a self-taught pianist from Palmer, Alaska who began classical study at 12. Within a year, he had developed a great love for Chopin's works and an interest in composing. He launched his career behind the piano in 1996 with the church choir, soon after expanding to weddings, musicals, and jazz band. In high school, he learned French and German, and has since studied Latin, Ancient Greek, Italian, and Spanish. He took up the harp in college, and purchased a (now rare) Dusty Strings FH32 Lyptus.

In 2006, he graduated cum laude from Cornish College of the Arts with a Bachelor of Music in Composition, having studied with Jarrad Powell, Janice Giteck, and Bern Herbolsheimer. While on exchange in Paris, spring of 2003, he wrote his first Comptine, a piece inspired by the music of Yann Tiersen. His original works have been premiered by Ancora (under the direction of Tess Orozco), Diverse Harmony, the Seattle Chamber Players, Seattle clarinetist Rosalyn DeRoos (a member of Choroloco), the Saint Helens String Quartet, and members of the West Seattle Community Orchestra.

In early 2013, he drove across the country with his father and his cat to start the New York City adventure, where he has been teaching French at Fluent City, music theory, and composing larger works.
