Jessica Roemischer

Jessica Roemischer is an award-winning pianist and composer. She performs around the world, combining jazz, classical, blues and improvisation to create compelling original compositions and unique piano interpretations.

Born into a musical family, Jessica began piano at age six and was improvising and composing from the outset. Her pedagogical lineage links directly to Frederic Chopin and Ludwig van Beethoven. Captivated by the timeless beauty of classical music, Jessica was also a "child of the '60's" (and '70's) and found herself equally as compelled by the soaring harmonies of Crosby, Stills, and Nash, the inimitable guitar of Led Zeppelin, and the hypnotic vocalizations of Van Morrison. Learning to play her favorite songs by ear, she simultaneously pursued classical piano studies with Marilyn Sophos and won awards at the Westchester (NY) Symphony and Westchester Conservatory Concerto competitions, among others.

Jessica Roemischer is both an inspired performer and a dedicated teacher. Since graduating from Princeton University in 1982, she has performed on four continents and taught hundreds of individuals. From 1989-1999, Jessica was on the Applied Music Faculty of Middlebury College, Vermont. She has developed an approach to piano duet improvisation that makes it possible for everyone--regardless of age, background, or even the presence of a disability--to come forth with music of striking originality and beauty. Jessica has conducted a unique music program at Riverbrook Residence for Women in Stockbridge, MA. Her ground-breaking work with women with disabilities at Riverbrook has received support from the Boston Symphony Orchestra and Caroline and James Taylor and earned her a nomination for a 2012 CNN Heroes Award.

As an internationally published writer and journalist, Jessica's compelling magazine articles have been translated into five languages. Her new book, "In Duet with God," will be released in 2013-14. In her performances, workshops, consulting services, coaching sessions, retreats and lessons, Jessica Roemischer is bringing the catalytic power of music to people throughout the United States and internationally.
