Jim Wilkinson

Jim Wilkinson retired in 2006 after a 40-year career as a newspaper journalist. But music was always an abiding influence in his life, even from his very early years. Raised in a Christian home by parents who were involved in service to the Lord, he learned much about how God can touch the soul with music. Singing in church at a very young age was the start of a love for music that later on included some country, some rock 'n' roll, but always centered on "good news" music. From his teen years on, Jim was involved in church music, including choirs, quartets, trios and duets, and learned music directing by the seat of his pants. Tight and well-blended harmony was always a big draw, so he aligned himself with people and churches where he could help make that happen. He bought a 4-track studio recorder in the 1980s and started experimenting with multi-tracking instrumentals and vocals. His album of original songs demonstrates the style that he developed over the years. It's sort of a "heart and soul music" that just gives you a good feeling inside. Artistic influences span many years: Rick Nelson, Elvis Presley, Marty Robbins, Smitty Gatlin and the Oak Ridge Quartet, the Blackwood Brothers and Dallas Holm among them.
Jim resides in Southern Indiana.
