Joe Euro

Joe Euro, Port Townsend, Washington guitarist/recording Artist plays finger-style/Neo-Classical original compositions as well as some straight Classical works on his recordings. Live, you're likely to hear some light jazz renditions of standards like Black Orpheus; Funny Valentine; Meditations; and more, however, Joe has not recorded any of those yet.
Joe Euro is also a long time wine merchant and owns and operates a retail shop in port Townsend called The Wine Seller.
Joe also hosts and sometimes guides trips abroad, mostly to European wine country, although he did one trip to Chile/Argentina/Uruguay a few years back.
He has lived in and around Port Townsend, Washington since 1979, and lived in Seattle an Portland, Oregon in the early to late 70's, but moved back to Chicago, Illinois, where he is originally from, for a few years in there too.
Joe's music is generally soothing and interesting with some lively open tuning pieces featuring sometimes a bit of percussive techniques...reach overs, hammer on's, etc.
There's a bit of overdubbing on many tracks so Joe can feature his soloing and improving capabilities. Joe also adds a bit of piano, keyboards, bass and percussion to a few tracks, but still maintains a purity of sound.
Joe plays the occasional concert locally, having played Wooden Boat Festivals in both Port Townsend and Seattle. He's also played a number of "Candlelight Concerts" in Port Townsend...an ongoing concert series.
Being Classically trained...but after years of Rock and blues, Joe also plays a fair amount of weddings, both at the ceremonies, and often on to some light background instrumental guitar at the receptions.
Joe has studied and or taken Master Classes with Scottish Classical guitar master, David Russell, studied at the Rosewood Guitar in Seattle with Gary Basiri and Steve Novacek.
Joe had the privilege of studying Brazilian jazz with Laurindo Almeida years ago at Centrum, Port Townsend, where he also got to play a bit, and get "the comping lesson of his life" from the late, great Ray Brown, both at Jazz Port Townsend that year with legendary sax/flute master the late/great...Bud Shank. Years later, Bud Shank asked Joe to join him on the Main Stage concert of Jazz Port Townsend to be the guitarist for a new suite of basso nova/ samba he had written. It was a great honor, and Joe says he felt like he took the Laurindo Almeida part he fondly recalls of the LA 4, that Joe used to practically wear out the record of. After the concert, Joe heard that his former mentor, Laurindo Almeida had passed away that same weekend.
Joe has also performed with a full orchestra (The Turtle Bluff Orchestra) as featured soloist for the Adagio from Joaquin Rodrigo's Concierto Aranjuez.
Joe played Lead guitar in Rock bands throughout grade school and High School...doing covers and improvs of Beatles, Stones, Led Zeppelin, Cream, Credence Clearwater, Buffalo Springfield, and the likes...then Joe played in a Blues Band in early college, still in the Chicago area...before going on to eventually study Classical guitar and work mostly solo since then.
