Johnny Stanec

Johnny Stanec is a singer-songwriter from Youngstown, OH. He is a founder of long-running rock and roll band, First In Space, who from 2007-2017 released five full-length records.

In 2011, Stanec released his first solo record, 'Narrow Is This Ghost Town', made up of songs not finished during First In Space's early years. With its release he began performing live on his own, mostly in intimate acoustic settings.

In 2012 he released his second solo record, 'The Past Echoes', and played live shows to support it. Soon after he returned to working with First In Space and wouldn't get back to his solo output until 2015.

In 2015 he returned with an intimate, mostly acoustic release, 'No Horizon', and followed it up with two more solo releases in 2016, 'Farewell Sadness', and the experimental, 'Ohio'.

In 2017 First In Space reunited for what will most likely be their final record and soon after Stanec returned to working on a new solo record in the beginning of 2018. In the summer of 2018 he released 'The Future of Nothing', his most focused and complete-sounding release yet. It ended up on several year-end 'best-of' lists.

In late 2018 he quickly returned to work on a follow up, which was released in early 2019. The record, 'Things Were Better, When', features a more uptempo and tightly packaged sound than any of his previous output. It has been receiving enthusiastic reviews.

Johnny Stanec has performed live over 500 times and been a part of twelve full-length records. His music has been heard all over the world and can be found everywhere music is sold or streamed. He currently performs mostly solo acoustic shows to promote his music.

He will return with a new record later in 2020.
