Jon Cyr - Music

Jon Cyr

Jon Cyr picked up the guitar at 14 yrs old with Bluegrass, Country and Classic Country as his influence at that point of his life. Throughout his childhood he has frequented many Bluegrass and Country Festivals in and around Nova Scotia and although his parents never played an instrument they sure loved music! Often times Jon's younger friends at the campground would be off riding their bikes and in the swimming pool while he would choose to hang with the old folks and listen to the picking and grinning that would happen around the campsites!

Over the course of his teenage years Jon's influences would shift to many other genres from Light Rock & Alternative to Rap, Hip Hop and R&B and learned that his personal taste for music was very broad.

In 2006 Jon won a competition through 780 Kixx Country Radio with Frank & Nancy Lowe, which earned he, and his then girlfriend, a guided tour of Nashville, TN including a very memorable evening at the Grand Ol' Opry (Ryman) where Jon would propose to his wife in front of a sold out crowd. During that same trip Jon was also given the opportunity to sing on stage at Tootsie's Orchid Lounge.

Over the next few years his music was contained to the basement as he would be quite busy raising his 3 beautiful children and it wasn't until the summer of 2014 when Jon's father asked him to play at a local pub for his Birthday Party and since then the demand has kept him busy and has helped out a few local restaurants and pubs stay busy as well.

When Jon is not playing at Hotels around the Maritime Provinces for his kids Hockey Trips he can be found playing local pubs in Halifax, NS on the East Coast of Canada. Jon also plays at a wide range of private house and cottage parties, wedding venues, ski resorts and from time to time you can catch him practicing at the local sports arena foyers while his kids are on the ice.

Jon has always been very grateful for the support from his wife and kids for allowing him to sacrifice time to pursue his passion in music and is also very grateful for his family, friends and followers who support him day to day by attending events!
