Julia Mae Staley

Are you a machine? Aren't we all? Rock Harpist & Singer/Songwriter Julia Mae Staley is known for her haunting lyrics and unusual beats.

Julia Mae began whistling at 18 months. Thrown into classical music as a harp prodigy from the age of 4, she traveled the world touring and entering many competitions. By the time she reached college, she felt burnt out and frustrated with the classical world's (then) limited view. She sought solace in the rock world and reinvented her style by writing her own songs.

Inspired by documentaries like "The Century of Self" and forward thinkers and filmmakers like Hayao Miyazaki, she watched as her lyrics grew in depth, but chose to use catchy hooks to get the deep ideas across.

After three years and coaching from various musicians that helped her find her way, she created the alternative rock song "Machine", which examines the relationship between human and nature, and more importantly, human and self.

Her stark and sassy lyrics bring home the truth over a mix of live and digital beats, piano, guitar and the harp. Soft acoustic guitar gives way to moody rock and then build to epic proportions with dirty digital whining before the story is complete.

Be prepared for something you haven't quite heard before.

She hopes to make a difference in the world through her words, her teaching and her music, in every person that hears it.

Especially you.
