Katie Haverly

Katie Haverly is a singer, songwriter, musician, and performing artist whose music is flooded with raw emotion, dissonant tension, ethereal moodscapes, and gritty sensuality. She is known for her live performances, which meld her musicality and vocal prowess with one singular moment in time. “I never sing anything the same way twice,” Haverly says. “In a performance, I feed off the people who are with me. I’m improvisational and open to the moment, using my voice to find the tones and sounds that need to come out in that time.” The result is authenticity in every song played, every note produced.

Haverly has toured through the United States and Mexico, opening for artists including Jake Shimabukuro, Chris Isaak, Loudon Wainwright, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, and The Little River Band, has recorded 5 full length solo records and two records with her Tucson-based indie-soul band Copper and Congress.

Katie's new full length solo album "Pluto" is moving outward from the inner exploration of Aviary, into a celestial realm that observes human behavior and our current social, political and environmental predicament here in 2018 from a satellite view. These songs are discussion, admonition, calls to action and beacons of hope. Woody Guthrie's infamous insignia on his acoustic guitar stating "This Machine Kills Fascists" resonates throughout the soundscape and journey of Pluto.

Parallel to these civic themes, are an alternative sinewy line of songs that unveil true and potent memories of the female experience of love, fear, power reclamation and disallowed desire. There are echos of commitment to take true responsibility throughout this musical journey - of one's own desires, fears, and inadequacies, but also for one's community and the health and well being of others. A balance between the two. A knowing that without this commitment for self and others, the delicate balance of our address within our country, world, solar system and galaxy can only be safeguarded with brazen willingness to see the truth and then act as our bodies know they must.
