Kevin Sherwood

Kevin Sherwood is a singer-songwriter born and raised in Southern California. He started playing guitar at the ripe old age of 17. He went to Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles where he received a BA in Theater with a minor in music. Kevin studied classical guitar with Michael Miranda and honed his chops in the Loyola Jazz Ensemble with the famous saxophone and clarinet player Buddy Collette. In addition to his guitar studies, he was also a member of the Loyola Men’s University Chorus under the direction of Paul Salamunovich. Following Loyola he studied method acting at the Joanne Baron / D.W. Brown Studio in Santa Monica, CA.

Throughout his 20s and early 30s he played in a number of local L.A. and Inland Empire rock bands. The most notable of which were Plato’s Bazaar, Zone Trooper Charlie, Secret, and finally Whiplads. These groups played regularly in the hottest clubs in L.A. including the House of Blues on Sunset, the Knitting Factory, and the Whiskey, among many others.

Kevin has appeared in two independent feature films written and directed by Christopher Folino. In the cult classic Gamers, Kevin played the Dungeon Lord of a 30-something group of role-playing gamers. Kevin helped produce the film and also wrote the comedy soundtrack along with Tom Hite. The second film, Sparks, is a super hero noir thriller where Kevin portrayed a dirty cop alongside the incomparable Clancy Brown.

After his journey with Whiplads he decided to focus on his singing and songwriting as a solo acoustic artist. His current release “8 Years Later” is a collection of a few songs written throughout his life as well as some songs written in the last few years. The sound is mostly mellow, soulful, indie acoustic music inspired by his study and practice of Surat Shabda Yoga on the MasterPath with Sat Guru Sri Gary Olsen.
