Larry Allen Brown

Born and raised in Chicago, Larry has had a long career as lead guitarist for a variety of groups. Heavily influenced by Dave van Ronk, John Fahey, and Martin Simpson, Larry embarked upon a solo career as a composer and performer on the acoustic guitar in 2000. A Berklee College of Music alum, Larry released Cobb Lane in 2000, followed by his second CD, Music for the High Country - The Soundtrack of Blowing Rock. The music is a blend of original compositions, as well as traditional classics, arranged in Larry’s unique style, encompassing both his solo acoustic guitar, and his outstanding chamber ensemble, known as the Acoustic Earth Orchestra. Music for the High Country has been endorsed by the Chamber of Commerce of Blowing Rock, NC as their official soundtrack. .

After relocating to Vermont, his most recent recording is "Covered Bridges", which includes vocals on an all original effort recorded at Squam Recording in New Hampshire, produced by folk icon, Bob McCarthy and engineered by Randy Roos. He continues the concept of the Acoustic Earth Orchestra with support from Eugene Friesen on cello, Bill Martin on acoustic bass, and Bob McCarthy on slide guitar and mandolin. Additional musicians include Charlie Bisharat on violin, Tony Levin on bass, Jeff Haynes on percussion, Steve Holley on drums, Tom Eaton on Hammond B3, and Jill Haley on English horn. Grammy winning producer Will Ackerman ( Windham Hill Records) produced two of the cuts on Covered Bridges with Tom Eaton engineering at imaginary Road Studio's in Vermont.

Larry lives in Brattleboro, Vermont.

"Jack Kerouac with a guitar" ~ Bob McCarthy

"Larry Allen Brown is the real deal. This man sings songs of startling intelligence in a voice you know is telling the truth. These are songs with some serious miles on the tires; born of a life deeply and passionately lived."~ Will Ackerman

“Whether you describe his voice as mahogany, molasses or bourbon, or a voice that sounds like mahogany covered in molasses and bourbon; you know it’s a voice that’s seen some things, and done some stuff”. ~ Norman Wheatley – Gentlefolk2 UK
