Sometimes ratchet, sometimes rapt, always raw: Licki juxtaposes the wit and charm of contemporary rap with riveting, chaotic, and wholly unexpected production elements to create a sound best described as "punk pop hip-hop."

Licki began as a series of internet videos and ratchet, offensive, fun songs. Born in May of 2010, she initially began as a Nicki Minaj parody, a caricature with aspirations of spending the summer becoming a YouTube star (before everyone was a YouTube star).

After a summer of heartbreak, Licki strung the pieces back together in the form of songs and poorly recorded videos. This evolved into “how to do thangz with wordz,” a 65-minute solo show with cabaret & stand-up comedy elements. The show continued to grow and change as Licki started to perform and create music of higher quality (both musically and lyrically). Licki recorded a number of songs in 2012, releasing a mixtape, “Inhospitable Bed,” in the fall. She performed updated versions of “how to do thangz with wordz” in the Hollywood Fringe Festival in June, and again at an independent theatre in August.

Over time, Licki has grown more committed to the music: she’s currently working on a trap album of wild, “classic” Licki-style tunes, produced by a long-time collaborator Ignant, who resides in Australia and also produces under the moniker t$ang. She’s also producing and recording a high-concept album, “Jung Orchard,” with her mentor and best friend, Jack Horkings (who makes music under pseudonyms Co.Z, Jack the Ripper & the Mad Psyentist, CompanyZ, & Cabana Beach).

This fall, Licki will perform a revamped, re-imagined version of her solo show. The work, titled “Admission,” is part of a larger project: on the date of the performance, Licki will also release a short nonfiction work and album of the same name.
