Linda M. Smith

Linda Marie Smith was born and raised on the Northwest side of Chicago. Growing up she attributes her love of music to her mother, who exposed her to opera, ballet and musical theatre.
Smith has written songs for over 30 years and through her continued development as a singer/songwriter and performer, has discovered that she is most passionate about presenting her work through a multimedia approach.

Smith’s latest multimedia concert musical piece, Mearra~Selkie From the Sea, filmed by Emmy award winning Chris Olsen (Kai-Harding Productions), premiered on PBS-WYCC in March of 2015. This Celtic fairytale fantasy tells a story with music, lyrics, spoken word and projected hand drawn animated images. It take the audience on a romantic, mystical multi-sensory adventure.

Her first multi-media show, the critically acclaimed The Triumph of Artemisia, debuted in 2006 along with her third album and continues to receive rave reviews.
Smith’s unique vocal style centers around a folk rock sensibility. Her music is romantic, soulful, earthy and mystical; her lyrics and melodies weave colorful stories of intriguing people and curious places. With a sound that crosses genres, Smith appeals to a wide audience. She has been compared to the likes of Natalie Merchant, Jewel and Sarah McLachlan.
