Lou Boden

Lou Boden is a musician in love with the Native American Style Flute. He discovered in out in New Mexico on his 60th Birthday.

His style of music is a mix of genres that reflect his 72 years of life. Raised in New York City and living in Virginia for that last 46 years, Lou has taken his flute to glaciers, deserts, mountaintops, rivers, and canyons. Lou has been invited to perform as far away as Nevada and as close as his front porch in Staunton.

While he often plays with other musicians, he really enjoys solo performances where he can share in an intimate, mellow setting. But, Lou’s most passionate role was as a Musician-in-Residence at The Augusta Medical Center, playing all over the hospital with most of his time spent bedside. Lou also played at UVA’s Transitional Care Hospital, and at senior communities. “I get to use my music to help and that feels like a real contribution to the community that I love.”

Lou is the founder of The Spiritheart Collective music group, and The Spiritheart Flute and Drum Circle. He is married to his wife Ellen for 50 years, and has two grown married sons.

Lou has a BA from Richmond College (now Staten Island College) of the City University of New York. He has studied at the Washington School of Natural Medicine in Washington D.C. where he became a Reiki Master Teacher, and a certified Holistic Healthcare Practitioner. Lou is a Graduate of the 4 year Professional Studies Program at the Barbara Brennan School of Healing, a college in Florida, and a graduate and ordained minister of The New Seminary for Interfaith Studies.
