Luther Enloe
Classical Guitarist

Classical guitarist Luther Enloe is noted for his resonant sound quality, lyrical phrasing, and technical finesse. An active recitalist, recording artist, and clinician, he has recorded for Sonic Grapefruit Records and has appeared as a recitalist and clinician in the southeastern and northwestern United States. Recent solo recital engagements include performances at Ramsey Concert Hall in Athens, Georgia, Frost Chapel in Mont Berry, Georgia, the Susan B. Harris Chapel in Young Harris, Georgia, Hoag Auditorium in Dahlonega, Georgia, Max Noah Recital Hall in Milledgeville, Georgia, John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown, North Carolina, the Ursuline Centre in Great Falls, Montana, and the Emerson Center for Arts and Culture in Bozeman, Montana. Additionally, he has appeared as a guitar soloist with ensembles including The Montana State University Chorale, The Dekalb Choral Guild, and The Peachtree Symphonic Winds.

In 2011, he earned the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Georgia under the guidance of John Sutherland and David Starkweather. His dissertation, The Technique and Artistry of Melodic Phrasing in the Spanish Classical Guitar Tradition, surveys four hundred years of melodic aesthetics and techniques found in the writings and music of Spain’s most prominent guitar composers.

A dedicated teacher, Luther Enloe serves on the faculty of Berry College in Rome, Georgia, where he maintains a thriving guitar studio in addition to teaching music courses. Additionally, he is an Instructor of Music at Georgia Gwinnett College in Lawrenceville, Georgia. In 2010 he was an advisor in the development of performance standards for middle and high school guitar classes for the Georgia Department of Education and Georgia Music Educators Association. In 2012 he was appointed the first Guitar Chair for the Georgia Music Educators Association. He lives in Lawrenceville, Georgia with his wife, Victoria and their son, Cole.

“Luther has turned into one of the most insightful teacher/performers that I have seen with a kindness and character that is not only rare but usually absent from most young teachers. His performances are wonderful. His sound is one of the best I have ever heard, and his knowledge and musicianship I pay attention to. …I am giving Luther my highest recommendation…”

John Sutherland, Guitar Instructor, University of Georgia, 1971 – Present, August 2007

“Luther captivates his audience through the beauty and intensity of his performance, while he engages even audience members who are less than fans of classical guitar.”

David A. Brose, Folklorist/Concert Presenter, John C. Campbell Folk School, May 2003
