Lyriqs Da Lyraciss

Since 2009, 20-yr old hiphop emcee Lyriqs da Lyraciss (real name Alfred Banks) has been recording and performing music professionally in New Orleans. Although he began his career at an early age, he has already gotten the attention of many heavyweights in the Louisiana hiphop scene, including Truth Universal, Chuck “Lyrikill” Jones, and G-Eazy. A partnership with the phenomenally popular recording artist G-Eazy (http://www.g-eazy.com), who produced a number of Lyriqs’ tracks and videos, has garnered him further attention not only in Louisiana, but throughout the South.

With a sound heavily influenced not only by southern rap but by the work of recording artists like Charles Hamilton and Lupe Fiasco, Lyriqs has found a niche as a smart lyricist with a fast tempo and party tracks that have found continual airplay and support from the big hip-hop stations in New Orleans, including Q93 (93.3FM). He’s also become well known as a battle rapper, winning contest after contest in New Orleans and beyond, including the Off The Dome rap battle.

Performances throughout the South in Jackson, Houston, Dallas, and Baton Rouge were supplemented this year by a tour that included a headlining show in Denver, Colorado. Based in New Orleans, Lyriqs has performed in every major venue the city has to offer, including big venues like House of Blues, Howlin Wolf, and Republic, and smaller venues like Dragons Den, Cafe Prytania and The Rat on Tulane University's campus, where he’s been known to attract capacity audiences. A win for Best Hiphop Group (for the group he performs in, Tygah Woods) and numerous individual nominations in both 2010 and 2011 by the NOLA Underground Hiphop Awards have helped bring newer, broader audiences to his music and energetic live performances.

In late 2011, Lyriqs da Lyraciss digitally released his debut project, The Nobodys Monologues, on his website, www.Underdogcentral.net. In the course of one year, the project had over 5,500 downloads and has sold over 500 physical CDs across the country. The project was also featured in countless major blogs, including Kevinnottingham.com, Donutsandmilk.com, Visualcrack.net and more. Touring behind this project, Lyriqs has opened for The Wu-tang Clan, Mickey Factz, Jay Electronica ,Tyga, Mac Miller, and many more.
