On December 4, 2010 MACFOUR was created by father Kevin Mc Kenney and MACFOUR member Kevin {KJ} Mc Kenney then age 9. While rocking to New Edition “Heart Break” father Kevin Mc Kenney got up and did a NE move and bet KJ he couldn't hit the move…but he did and the 2 other members K'Von {Mr. Kool}, KLove {The Dancer} and Keith {Duck} joined in. On December 7th after coming home from work, KJ asked Kevin when they were going to rehearse. Kevin then informed KJ that New Edition rehearsed and prepared hard every day to get where they are today. With that in mind, MACFOUR! Began their daily routine of school and rehearsals, eventually landing their first performance on August 2011.
Since then MACFOUR! Has performed in several shows in the DMV
{Washington, DC, Maryland, Virginia} region. Thanks to promoters like Anthony Jeter, who selected MACFOUR! To represent in several “The Baltimore SuperFest” presentations. Other opportunities came like Christmas shows, school dances, NowTown/Motown Revue, WOLB Radio with Doni Glover, Fox 45 Good Day Baltimore, Appearances on ABC2NEWS,WJZTV13, America’s Got Talent,Miss Asia Pacific World USA, Special Appearance and Performance as Guest at The Comedy Factory With The Legendary Comedian SINBAD and Audition at The Historical Apollo Theater.
These young men are determined to keep the classic R&B flavor alive by emulating inspirational groups like The Jackson 5, New Edition, Troop, Dru Hill, The Temptations, Full Force, Force MDs, The Dells, The O’Jays, Levert, and others. MACFOUR! Studies video performances by these groups on a daily basis and has also enlisted the assistance of a vocal coach in order to improve their craft. They have come a long way since 2010 and are determined to continue through hard work to improve their talent.
