Maia KK

An intuitive, experimental musician, Maia has returned to song writing after a five year hiatus. In keeping with moving in new directions since her samjjana days, she has freshly re-branded herself.* She's brought a selection of her old favourites along with her (from her previous five albums) to sit quite happily alongside freshly brewing new (and quite different) material, and a wonderful assortment of collaborations. (Keep watching this space!)

Not fitting easily into any genre, she prefers to describe what she creates as 'music for the aspiring heart of humanity.' When platforms like this ask 'What artists do you sound like?' Maia scratches her head, as her sound is eclectic and if you've heard one you definitely haven't heard them all. She's heard a few times that what she does reminds people of Laurie Anderson. Those more into New Age music who appreciate the likes of Sacred Earth and Mirabai Ceiba would likely enjoy a good number of her songs.

She feels very blessed to touch people's lives with unique instruments, original compositions, improvisations, soulful songs and harmonies. The centrepiece of her assortment of instruments is the PANArt hang ~ an enchanting, ethereal, profoundly gentle instrument that has been described as 'for this world, but not of this world.'

“Divine, a heavenly elixir.”
Ian Lewis (Australia)

“It is so refreshing to listen to music which is simple, beautiful and from the heart. Inspiring!”
Jourdan Neil (New Zealand)

“Maia, there is incredible magic coming out of you – you are a bridge between the old and the new. You can have an immense impact on others in a very profound way and be an extraordinary catalyst and transformer of humanity with your words and your songs.”
Michelle Karén (Quantum Astrologer, USA)

A percentage of profits from Maia's albums are donated to the Playing For Change Foundation (playingforchange.org) in support of their wonderful ‘peace through music' initiatives and projects.

This selfie is adding my support to the wonderful 'al naturale' trend amplified in recent times by the likes of Alicia Keys – while not anti-make up, I fully align with anything that helps us to appreciate each other in our natural state ... pared back (just a light dusting of mineral powder to take the shine off), no bling, we can radiantly shine our light from within. #NoMakeUp, #RawAndReal
