Mary Ellen Bernard

"If she were a chef, her spice cabinet would need restocking daily. Bernard seasons her material to taste and cooks with a high flame." – Mark Keating, Sound Views

Mary Ellen Bernard is a singer-songwriter with a background in theatre and comedy. She writes and performs with her husband Paul Guzzone, and their music is represented in Nashville by Keaton Music Ventures. On the acoustic music circuit Mary Ellen has appeared as a featured act or opening for such artists as John Prine, Loudon Wainwright III, Richie Havens, Tom Paxton and John Sebastian. Her three CD’s (Point of Departure, Coney Island Mojo, and Bus Stop) have received reviewer praise and airplay around the country and in Europe. "Coney Island Mojo" was listed among releases by Dar Williams, Ani DiFranco, and Jonatha Brooke as one of “the ten best albums of 1996 that you’ve probably never heard of – but should have.” (Steve Bornstein, Mixx Magazine)

Other performance experience includes theatre, cabaret, stand-up comedy and the occasional film and television appearance.

Mary Ellen is also an Adjunct Lecturer in the Performing Arts Department at Pace University in New York City where she teaches the course “How the Entertainment Industry Works,” an overview of the Theater, Music, Film, and Media businesses.
