Mauro Marcondes

Mauro Marcondes was born on October 1, 1953, in Rio de Janeiro. Composer and singer raised in Copacabana in the bossa-nova era He was influenced by this style and also by Popular Brasilian Music (MPB) composers who emerged in the 60s and 70s – Tom Jobim, Edu Lobo, Caetano Veloso, Chico Buarque, Milton Nascimento, Ivan Lins, Dori Caymmi among others.

In 2003 he released his first author album: “Perfil de Sal”. Recorded in Rio de Janeiro, with arrangements and musical direction by Wilson Nunes. In the first half of that year was released at the house “Rio Scenarium”. Son after, life takes him far. He lands Washington, DC where he started to live and work.

He continues to write with his longtime partner, Caito, and other partners and friends, such as Guto Marques, Paulo César Feital, Éle Semog, Eliza Maciel, Marcia Toledo and Arnoldo Medeiros. He meets in DC the Brasilian musician Leonardo Lucini and invited him to make arrangements and musical direction for a new album (“Mar Azul”). The album was ready in December 2009.

After a period of little musical production he returned to Brazil and in 2014 he reunited with a friend and old partner, Zéjorge, author of several and beautiful songs in partnership with Ruy Maurity. It was a flood of new compositions in more diverse styles of our MPB. He decided to record in 2017 “Cantoria de Bazar”. With musical direction and beautiful arrangements of Maestro Leandro Braga, the album is available on the internet since September 2017.
