My music began to evolve with my mother's love of music as she introduced me to the Weavers, Simon & Garfunkel, Glen Campell, & Peter, Paul & Mary, and eventually the Beatles & Rolling Stones. I started playing guitar at the age of fourteen to accompany myself on songs by James Taylor, Arlo Guthrie, Neil Young; Crosby, Stills & Nash; John Prine, and Cat Stevens. As a fourth generation Californian growing up in greater Sacramento area, I spent many evenings singing around camp fires in northern California camp grounds such as MacKerricher Beach in Fort Bragg and Folsom Lake.

In my early twenties I fell in love with the sound of pedal steel guitar in Elton John's "Country Comfort" and CSN&Y's "Teach Your Children" and found a pedal steel guitar book by Winnie Winston in a used bookstore. After reading it I decided to a pedal steel and hid out in a spare room for over a year learning how to play it. Over the past twenty-five years I’ve played steel with a number of Santa Cruz and Santa Rosa area bands.

I started writing songs consistently on 2002. "These Days", my first CD of original songs, was released in 2006. I released "Test of Time" in 2007. The band Under the Radar I played in for many years released "Beyond the Niche", containing four of my originals in 2009. Jaclyn Steele's 2014 self-titled EP is contains four Capella-Steele co-writes and two of my originals. The 2017 release, Gotta Have Heart was recorded in my home studio with my band MCB.
